Contributor's Corner: Movie Theater Dilemma
During the dawn of Viddy Well, we asked each interested contributor to fill out the same questionnaire. The questions spanned from grave to goofy, but the replies were nearly always unexpected. This week we'll take a look at the following question:
You arrive late to the movie to the point where the feature has already started. Do you a) sit and wait for the next screening, or b) watch the movie even though you missed 5-10 mins?
Julia Stecyk:
I'd sneak into another film...come out, and go to the next screening for the originally planned film. I don't like waiting, and I hate being late.
Blake Haughton:
No, I'm going in right then and there. If I've missed the first few minutes — unless it's a thriller or mystery — I can generally catch myself up. I'll just catch the beginning later.
Anthony Cleveland:
I’d rather wait 2 hours for the next film. You don’t buy a car without the wheels, why would you pay for a movie without getting the exposition?
Brenda Torres:
I'd watch the movie anyway because I probably would not have the patience to wait for the next screening. However, since I go to the movies with Aaron, he makes sure I don't dilly dally too much so we get there on time haha!
Aaron Haughton:
I'm a pretty punctual person, and this situation only happens rarely and is generally at the fault of someone else *(looks at Brenda :P)*. My theater of choice is the Alamo Drafthouse, and they won't let you in the theater after the film's begun, so in that case I'd wait. I'd prefer to see the film in its entirety because the last time this happened — which was Mad Max Fury Road, if anyone cares — missing the open of the film really pissed me off. The combination of trying to rush to get there on time and the stress of trying to find a seat in the dark crowded theater really hindered my ability to enjoy the film, and it was fucking Fury Road for Chrissakes.
