Contributor's Corner: Most Overrated Christmas Film
During the dawn of Viddy Well, we asked each interested contributor to fill out the same questionnaire. The questions spanned from grave to goofy, but the replies were nearly always unexpected. This week we'll take a look at the following question:
What’s the most overrated Christmas film?
Julia Stecyk:
ELF!!!!! Will Ferrell is not funny.
Anthony Cleveland:
National lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Narratively it's shit. Clark is a pig. It doesn't have any direction really, and It's spawn tons of merch. That said, I still love it and even bought a Griswold hockey jersey.
Blake Haughton:
Ugh, there's too many. Miracle on 34th Stree, Elf, The Rudolph special (it totally counts). But by far the worst I've ever seen is an animated special based on the song "Grandma got run over by a reindeer." 0/10 do not recommend.
Brenda Torres:
Elf! It's the pumpkin spice latte of Christmas movies. I'm not denying it's good, but CALM DOWN.
Aaron Haughton:
As fare as I'm concerned, A Christmas Story is the most overrated Christmas film of all time. That's not to say that it's bad though because it's actually excellent. It's just played to death. For year's TNT ran 24 hours of A Christmas Story, and that's when the over saturation began. Thanks, Ted Turner!
