What Do You Think Tarantino's 10th ORIGINAL Final Film Will Be?!
Article by Anthony Cleveland
Now that Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has been announced as his 9th film, we’re reminded that it’s just one film away from his alleged retirement. For anyone unfamiliar, QT announced some years ago that he would only direct 10 films. He's since stated this choice is done to preserve his legacy as one of best filmmakers in history. "Drop the mic. Boom. Tell everybody, 'Match that shit'," He reiterated to The Hollywood Reporter.
If QT commits to this 10 film retirement plan, that means we’re left with a bit of time to speculate what his next project will be.
Before Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was announced, he stated he was working on a Bonnie and Clyde style story set in Australia. This is likely what his next project will be since a lot of time has already been devoted to the project and QT’s has professed his desire to do a gangster film.
Of course, we also know the slate is always subject to change.
Amongst gangster films, QT has also hinted that he's wanted to do a brooding horror film similar to The Exorcist. However, nothing much has been said lately by the filmmaker on this subject and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’s Manson Family connection could be enough to satisfy his horror film urges.
Many fans are hoping for a return to one of his previous films, like Kill Bill Vol. 3 or even the Vega Brothers. Fans have been clamoring to see his work on the latter project for more than a decade now, but QT insists the actors are too old for the prequel film, which makes perfect sense to us.
Tarantino's also slated to direct a Star Trek film based off a story he pitched to the studio. The interesting thing here is that he won't be writing the script; The Revenant screenwriter, Mark L. Smith, will be on writing duty. With that in mind, will this actually count towards QT's 10-and-done quota since it's not his words? Knowing Tarantino's ego, probably not, but stranger things have happened, like Tarantino directing a Star Trek film...
We have some vague ideas of what the auteur may choose for his farewell film, but we want to hear from you. What would you like to see as Tarantino’s final film?!
