Contributor's Corner: Action Hero Showdown
During the dawn of Viddy Well, we asked each interested contributor to fill out the same questionnaire. The questions spanned from grave to goofy, but the replies were nearly always unexpected. This week we'll take a look at the following question:
If you could see any two action superstars go head-to-head that haven’t previously appeared together in a film, who would it be?
Kie Richardson:
I’d like to see one of my favorite actors of all time Bruce Willis and Bruce Lee. The perfect writer and director would have made these two bad asses mesh well. I don’t know if it’s fair since Lee is not here physically. If we have to go with two live stars, Bruce Willis and Vin Diesel.
Jake Bottiglieri:
90s Chow Yun Fat vs. Brandon Lee (pre-death; not now). Really taking the cake for autistic fantasy pick here, but how cool would this be? A friend recently recommended Lee's Rapid Fire which has some of the best ill-mentioned action scenes of the 90s. I think Chow being the villain in this film would be interesting. Maybe something about the triads moving drugs into Brandon Lee's sleepy Los Angeles neighborhood. Let's call this faux film TOTAL OVERDOSE (1994). I will not be satisfied if less than 10,000 bullets are fired. Can't you see the cardboard stand-up now? It's over there, right next to the Mortal Kombat II machine...
Dave Mcdermand:
It would be great if the Alien and the Predator got together to fight. I think there's no way a film about the two of them could ever be a big steaming pile of--oh, wait...Nevermind. I forgot that already happened...it's bad.
Tanner Standridge:
Jackie Chan (Drunken Master) V.S Keanu Reeves (Neo). It'd be hilarious but brief.
Anthony Cleveland:
With The Expendables movies, I feel like I got everything I wanted. So I'd probably go with Tony Jaa vs Iko Uwais, which will be coming soon.
Aaron Haughton:
Nicolas Cage. Keanu Reeves. They're two cops working a case to solve what appears to be a standard homicide, but actually leads to a deeper conspiracy. Cage plays the wildcard and Reeves the straight-laced, play-it-by-the-book cop. One of the cops is not exactly as they appear to be, but who?
Who would you choose? We want to know. Share your thought and feelings in the comments section below, and as always, remember to viddy well!
